Trip to Cincinnati for Kendra's 10-Year High School Reunion

Last weekend, Miles and I traveled to Cincinnati without Brian (due to work) for my 10-Year High School Reunion. While we were there, we went to the ATP Tennis Tournament with Granner and Dee, which was a lot of fun (especially the part that he and I spent in the handicap stall in the women's restroom so Miles could eat. In the meantime, James Blake made a huge comeback and won the match with an exciting finish. Ahh . . .the joys of motherhood. :) Brian stayed home, worked at TJ's, and finished some painting projects. We missed him very much while we were gone!

My reunion was very fun. I saw many friends I hadn't seen in years (probably 10 years), but I failed to take many pictures. I have included a picture of me with Lindsay and Anna, as well as a photo of Jena and Chad (Jena planned the reunion and did a FANTASTIC job. By the way, I set Jena and Chad up for their first date two years ago. Don't they make a nice couple?!

We are finally able to use cloth diapers with Miles now that he has put on some weight. Although they make him look big-bottomed, you can rest assured that he still has a tiny little bottom under there. Thanks to Granner and Dee for purchasing his diapers for us! They are so soft against his skin, they're good for the environment, AND they'll save us lots of money over the next couple years until he is potty-trained. Miles seems to like them!

A typical day with Miles is still pretty standard. He eats every 3-4 hours. Between feedings he usually sleeps. We run errands together and he does great (meaning he sleeps thru it all). He gets cuter and cuter each day! We love him very much!

Family Weekend and 1-Month Update

We took advantage of Brian's weekend break from work by hanging out in our garden, beginning to read Book 7 of the Harry Potter series (no one spoil it for us!), and going to the park with Brian to watch him play soccer with his friends (Miles even got in on the action himself!). Enjoy these pictures (also pictured are Miles' buddies, Josephine and Isaac). (Note: You can click on any photo in order to view a larger version of it).

Miles also had his 1-month doctor's appointment. He is doing great and now weighs 7 lbs. 15 oz. and is 21 inches long!! Way to grow Miles!!

Miles the 3-Week-Old

Okay, okay . . . I realize everyone just wants to see what Miles looks like these days. Here you go! (Thanks to the Schmidts and Warrens for a fun Friday night!)

You may be thinking . . . does this kid do anything besides sleep?! The answer is yes. His other two activities include eating and making dirty diapers. The other two activities don't make for a cute picture, though.

Cincinnati Trip and Visit from Grandpa and Nana

We were so glad to have Keith and Karen (a.k.a Grandpa and Nana) visit us from July 25-30. Keith wore his "New Grandpa" badge everywhere we went (I think he'd been wearing it ever since Miles was born!:) Miles is lucky to have such a proud grandpa!

All four of us traveled to Mason, OH that weekend for our couples' baby shower, hosted by my Mom and Dad. Many folks at the shower were surprised that Miles was at the shower too! It was a lot of fun to see friends from home and for our families to spend time together.

On our way back to Chicago, we stopped by Uncle Nate and Aunt Kate's house to visit with them and Cousin Jake. Can you believe that Miles and Jake are only 3.5 months apart?! Also pictured is Miles with his cousin Norah, who is 8 months older than him. Miles - you have your work cut out for you to keep up with these two!

Happy Birthday Miles!

Maximus Miles Hunter was born on July 17, 2007 at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL. At birth, he weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Considering that he was born 5.5 weeks early, we thought that was pretty good!!

Miles spent his first four days in the hospital, where they tested and cared for him to make sure he had a clean bill of health. Pictured here is Miles under the UV rays, trying to rid himself of jaundice and an air bubble, as well as get a tan! (Sorry buddy - your parents don't exactly have olive skin. It's SPF 50 for you!)

Once they gave us the all-clear, Brian and I packed up our little guy to bring him home in style! (Okay, so we might have been a bit over-protective, considering that he was born in July. Just remember that he had been living in an incubator and tanning bed until this point in his life. Our little fella couldn't handle the cool breeze! :) . . . okay, and who designs these car seats anyway? They certainly weren't the parents of a premie!

Once we got him home, he was welcomed by Granner and Dee (Kendra's Mom and Dad), as well as his favorite feline, Hanuman. So far, Hanuman and Miles are good buddies. We fear this may change, however, when Miles becomes mobile!

Needless to say, we were so glad to bring our little man home! Doesn't he look like his dad?

Welcome to our Blog!
