All Saints Eve Celebration

Every year on October 31 our church celebrates All Saints Eve by dressing up our children (and/or ourselves) as saints or Bible characters. We have a lot of fun guessing who everyone is supposed to be. It makes for a very special evening. Here is a picture of Miles in his costume being held by his Godmother, Debbie. I've also included his rhyme to help you guess who he is:

"I know it's a shot in the dark,
that you'll think I've been eaten by this shark.
And beyond that it is my wish,
that you'll consider this shark the "great fish"
that swallowed me up like his favorite dish."

Unfortunately, Brian is pulling an all-nighter tonight, so he missed the All Saints Eve celebration. For those of you who know about Brian's fear of sharks, I think you'd agree with my theory that he used "work" as an excuse not to have to see Miles in a shark custume. Too scary! In order not to scare his dad, Miles also dressed up like a Trader Joe's employee tonight. He liked wearing his spider hat too.

Seriously though, how many chins does one kid need???

Bradley Method - Husband Coached Childbirth

As most of you know, Brian and I took a Bradley Method birth course in order to prepare for Miles' birth. As a result of the course, we felt calm and prepared for Miles' birth, even when my water broke five and half weeks early!! We were able to have the unmedicated birth for which we had hoped (with the help of our terrific midwives!). We recommend the Bradley Method (http://www.bradleybirth.com) to anyone who is interested in learning more about the natural birth process and how to prepare and handle it physically, emotionally, and mentally. Doctor Robert Bradley was the first physician to train husbands to be the labor coach. Brian was a terrific coach for me (Once he got to the hospital, anyway . . . which was just in time for the worst of it! :)

The other thing about our Bradley Method course that we really enjoy is the friendships we've formed with other couples whose babies were born around the same time as ours. We recently had our Bradley Reunion (see picture above), and the moms and babies from our class are going to the zoo together this week. Miles has seven little buddies that he met before he was even born!!

On a final note, I wanted to let everyone know that Miles will be baptized and chrismated (annointed) on Sunday, November 4 at All Saints Orthodox Church in Chicago. All are welcome and invited to attend!!

As you can see from these pictures, Miles is getting bigger and bigger!!

Miles is 3 months old today!

Miles really loves being 3 months old! We don't mean to brag, but he can read the newspaper now . . .

And, oh yes, he laughs at our jokes . . .

His most impressive trick, however, is looking EXACTLY like his Dad. Would you believe that these are pictures of Brian at 3 months, and not Miles?? ((The lovely lady pictured below with Brian is his Oma. May her memory be eternal!)

At least we know what Miles willl look like in 32 years . . . He's a lucky boy!

Lastly, Hanuman would like to thank Josh and Jenni for giving Miles a worm gym. Hanuman thinks it is great!

Fun with Family

We've had lots of fun with family in the past two weeks! Nana and Grandpa Hunter visited us last week, and we all celebrated Granner and cousin Cole's 4th birthday on Saturday. Enjoy some photos from the last two weeks!
