Step by Step

The end of summer proved to be just as busy as the rest of our summer, and I have lots of blogging to catch up on, but for now, I thought I would send some pictures I've taken since we got home on Sunday from our trip to North Carolina. Miles is taking 3-4 steps on his own now. We can't believe what a big boy he is!

Miles loves to climb on furniture!

Who doesn't like an airplane ride after bath time?

(I apologize that this video is sideways.)
This was taken this morning - as you can see, Miles is close to being able to walk fully on his own!

I'll do my best to fill you in on the rest of our summer soon . . .
Work is keeping both Brian and me (and Miles!) busy these days. We all seem to be adjusting well to our new family schedule.

On the Road Again

Miles and I were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to drive to Pennsylvania this summer to visit our friends, the Swishers, and to celebrate Oma's 90th birthday with family and friends. Our first stop was State College, PA, where we stayed with the Swishers for several days. We had a terrific time!

Ezra and Miles enjoy snack time at the park:

We loaded up all the kids for ice cream at the Penn State Creamery:

Do these faces say "YUM!" or what?

Corene opted for the more sophisticated approach to eating ice cream.

Abigail gives a big smile for Uncle Brian back in Chicago.

Who could say no to this?

Next, we went to Oma's cottage in Mount Gretna, PA to pick her up and take her back to her home in Temple, PA, where the rest of the family was waiting for her (surprise, surprise)!

First, however, we had to swing by The Jigger Shop for some ice cream!
"The Jigger" is famous in Mount Gretna!

My dad and his brothers planned a big surprise party for Oma's 90th birthday
. Pictured here is Uncle Scott as he prepares the 100+ guests for Oma's arrival.

Kate, Nate, Norah, and Carina are waiting for Oma's grand entrance . . .
SURPRISE OMA!

Happy 90th Birthday Oma!
May God grant you many years!

One Step at a Time

Here is Miles when he first started walking with his walking toys.
