December 4: First Snow of 2010!

Macrina celebrated her four month birthday by playing in the season's first true snowfall. She, along with Miles and our neighbor, Lukas, had a blast!

Brotherly and sisterly love!

At four months, Macrina is 25 inches long and weighs 13 lbs. 12 oz. In other words, she's tall and thin (and not to mention cute in her snowsuit from the Swishers :)

Lukas and Miles are best buds.
We are so grateful to have him across the hall!

Miles tried squeezing into his toddler sled . . .

. . . but it proved more useful as a snowball holder.

As you can see, Macrina was just thrilled by the whole snow day experience. Even the snowflakes on her face couldn't keep her awake. Ha!

We ventured across the street to the local sled hill. Miles and Lukas found an abandoned big kid sled and quickly got to work on the hill.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Let's do it again!

September 19, 2010 - Macrina's Baptism

Macrina Anne was baptized at All Saints Orthodox Church in Chicago on September 19, 2010. Our dear friends and mentors, Steve and Debbie Kellar, are her Godparents. See below for photos from her baptismal service. The Church welcomed eight new members during this service, five through baptism and three through chrismation (annointing). Thanks be to God!

After the service was over, our families gathered at the Kellars to celebrate Macrina's big day. This is how Macrina chose to celebrate with us:
May God grant you MANY years Macrina Anne!

Weighing in at 5 weeks . . .

Macrina turned 5 weeks old on Wednesday. At her doctor's appointment today she weighed 11 pounds and was 22 3/4 inches long. Way to go girl!

I think we may have a redhead here . . .
(and a Leo to boot! Could be trouble! :)

Miles loves his sister!

Is Macrina really that LITTLE or is Miles just that BIG?

What a special moment with Oma, who is 92-years-old in this photo with 1-month-old Macrina.

We are so blessed!

Go Cubbies!

We've had a busy 10 days at the Hunter household! Kicking off the week, Granner and Dee came last Friday to take Miles to a Cubs game. Here they are before they left for the game on the L.

Miles loved the train ride and the game. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of him in his new Cubs hat because he included it in his signature move at the game. Every time something exciting would happen (for either team), Miles would take off his hat and wave it in the air to cheer. Such a character!

Saturday morning we celebrated with an Oak Park Farmer's Market tradition: homemade donuts! Dee and Miles were especially thrilled!

Macrina's excitement for the weekend included bathtime with Granner. Thanks for a great visit, Granner and Dee!

Macrina's first week at home

Week One at home with Macrina and Miles has proven to be quite successful! Miles is a terrific big brother, and Macrina is a sleep fanatic (at least for the time being). It is such a joy to watch her grow and develop each day. Here are some photos from the week. Enjoy!

Before he left town, Dee took Brian and Miles to the Great American Train Show in Wheaton. This was a big hit with Miles, who LOVES to play trains. Thanks Dee!

Godmama Debbie finally got to meet Macrina!
(She even let Godpapa tag along :)

Miles helped give Macrina her first bath at home.
She didn't enjoy it very much, but she survived!

I finally took the plunge and cut Miles' hair. It breaks a mother's heart to see those curls on the floor, but isn't this boy handsome?!!

The rest of this post belongs to Macrina, our sweet baby girl!
