Shedd Aquarium - Summer 2009

Our friends, Jeff and Missy Bos, along with their three kids, met us at the Shedd Aquarium for a morning of fun this summer. The Bos family are missionaries in Bangladesh, so it is always nice when we get to see them here in the states. We spent the morning looking at exhibits and ended the day with lunch outside.

It was a flawless visit until, as we were saying our goodbyes, Miles wandered off to check out the dolphins on his own. No one saw him walk away, and by the time we noticed he was gone (you know, 5-10 seconds after he turned the corner), we could not locate him. After several frantic minutes of yelling and running through the cafeteria and children's area, one of the aquarium workers notified us that another worker located him down by the dolphins and whales. Brian and I have never been so panicked. We were just so thankful to find him and that he was safe. In fact, he didn't even know he was lost. We are seriously considering buying him a leash next summer.

Cincinnati Zoo - Summer 2009

Looking back at the summer, we spent a fun weekend in Cincinnati with Granner and Dee. Miles had his first visit to the Cincinnati Zoo. He loved the train ride!

(That's right, Daddy. Hold on to that kid!)

Miles witnessed an elephant push over a dead tree, and for many weeks after he would randomly remind us: "Elephant PUSH!"

Just in case anyone is wondering whether or not Miles still looks like his Dad . . .

Dee and Miles were envious of this bear . . .

Brian took this great shot of this polar bear, who kept diving and swimming past the viewing window. Miles loved watching him go round and round!

Thanks for a great trip to the zoo, Granner and Dee! Let's do it again soon!!
